One of the toughest rigid engineering thermoplastics, absorbing hard impacts by flexing instead of cracking. It stays stiff and dimensionally stable above 110°C and takes up little water. It is notch sensitive, so sharp internal corners concentrate stress, and it is attacked by strong alkalis and many solvents.
