A long chain nylon that is flexible and tough rather than rigid, drawing its strength from crystallinity and hydrogen bonding. It absorbs little water and stays stable in humid and wet conditions, bending rather than breaking under impact. It resists fuels, oils, and solvents, wears well, and has a naturally low friction surface.
